³¹ “He said to him, ‘If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead.’”

Jesus Greater Than Moses

3 Therefore, holy brothers and sisters,^(A) who share in the heavenly calling,^(B) fix your thoughts on Jesus, whom we acknowledge^(C) as our apostle and high priest.^{(D) 2} He was faithful to the one who appointed him, just as Moses was faithful in all God’s house.^{(E) 3} Jesus has been found worthy of greater honor than Moses,^(F) just as the builder of a house has greater honor than the house itself. ⁴ For every house is built by someone, but God is the builder of everything.^{(G) 5} “Moses was faithful as a servant^(H) in all God’s house,”^[a](I) bearing witness to what would be spoken by God in the future. ⁶ But Christ is faithful as the Son^(J) over God’s house. And we are his house,^(K) if indeed we hold firmly^(L) to our confidence and the hope^(M) in which we glory.

¹⁷ For the law was given through Moses;^(A) grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.^(B)

²¹ They asked him, “Then who are you? Are you Elijah?”^(A)

He said, “I am not.”

“Are you the Prophet?”^(B)

He answered, “No.”

⁴⁶ If you believed Moses, you would believe me, for he wrote about me.^(A)

¹⁸ I will raise up for them a prophet^(A) like you from among their fellow Israelites, and I will put my words^(B) in his mouth.^(C) He will tell them everything I command him.^{(D) 19} I myself will call to account^(E) anyone who does not listen^(F) to my words that the prophet speaks in my name.^(G)

¹⁰ Since then, no prophet^(A) has risen in Israel like Moses,^(B) whom the Lord knew face to face,^{(C) 11} who did all those signs and wonders^(D) the Lord sent him to do in Egypt—to Pharaoh and to all his officials^(E) and to his whole land. ¹² For no one has^(F) ever shown the mighty power or performed the awesome deeds^(G) that Moses did in the sight of all Israel.

²² For Moses said, ‘The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among your own people; you must listen to everything he tells you.^{(A) 23} Anyone who does not listen to him will be completely cut off from their people.’^[a](B)

²⁴ “Indeed, beginning with Samuel, all the prophets^(C) who have spoken have foretold these days. ²⁵ And you are heirs^(D) of the prophets and of the covenant^(E) God made with your fathers. He said to Abraham, ‘Through your offspring all peoples on earth will be blessed.’^{[b](F) 26} When God raised up^(G) his servant, he sent him first^(H) to you to bless you by turning each of you from your wicked ways.”

³⁷ “This is the Moses who told the Israelites, ‘God will raise up for you a prophet like me from your own people.’^[a](A)
